Principal’s Message: January 19, 2025

Good afternoon Wildcats,

I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend! We had a great first week back to school. I particularly enjoyed seeing our students and staff back on campus and in classes teaching and learning. One highlight from this week was in Mr. Manalastas' Human Anatomy class. Students were completing a hands on lab dissecting sheep hearts. Students worked in groups to identify the aorta before starting the dissection. It was great to see students gain a better understanding of the anatomy of the heart through this dissection experience.

With tomorrow off, we hope everyone has a chance to reflect upon the life and legacy of Dr. King. See below for information on the Unity Walk happening at 8am tomorrow at Central Park.

This week, our ASB will be leading a Wellness week (see attached). With that being said, we will have an assembly for all students on Tuesday 1/21. Teachers will share the assembly times with their classes. The assembly with include a presentation from motivational speaker, Tei Street.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Unity Walk

The Santa Clarita community is invited to participate in the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Walk on Monday, January 20, at 8:00 am, at Central Park (27150 Bouquet Canyon Rd.).

"The event focuses on Dr. King’s legacy and contributions to our nation. Guest speakers, including children from our community, will touch upon the core values of Dr. King. This year’s theme is “Mission Possible: Protecting Freedom, Justice and Democracy in the Spirit of Nonviolence 365,” honoring his life and impact. This event will bring the community together and celebrate the life of a man who was dedicated to human rights, equality and nonviolence. The impact of Dr. King’s legacy will live on for generations to come, inspiring our youth to seek out love and unity, instead of violence. Following the opening comments and musical performances, attendees will walk alongside each other, offering an opportunity to spark conversation and step forward as a united front. "

California Scholarship Federation (CSF) Spring 2025

CSF applications are available on the CSF website, https://mrssolarez.weebly.com/csf.html

All students grades 9-12 may apply this semester. Membership is semester based and all members must reapply every semester. Seniors must apply this semester to earn Senior awards and honors at graduation. Please follow the directions on the application.

ASB Mental Health Awareness Week: Assembly Schedule 1/21
Students report to 2nd period as normal on Tuesday at 8:30am. Teachers will escort students to the assembly at their schedule times.

West Ranch Theatre presents An Evening of One Acts on Friday, January 24, 2025. Join us for a fun filled night seeing our students perform in the WR Theater at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased at the following link.
