Principal’s Message: December 7, 2025

Good afternoon Wildcats,

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Today is primarily known as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, marking the surprise Japanese attack in 1941 that brought the U.S. into World War II, leading to the deaths of over 2,400 Americans and significant naval destruction. December 7, 1941 is "a date which will live in infamy."

This is the last full week of school before Final Exams. We encourage all students to finish strong and make contact with their teachers on any missing assignments or extra support they might need. Please make sure to see below for important information on Final Exams, lost and found items, and staff appreciation donations.

Last week we had a great turn out at our first open library night with 30 students showing up to get help from our teachers. Please encourage your students to attend the Candy Canes & Cram Open Library Night tomorrow from 6pm-8pm in the WR Library. We will have teachers available to support students who need academic assistance in all subjects.

Finally, we are excited to share the great news with you regarding the California Dashboard results (see below). This news can only be attributed to our hardworking students making academics their top priority, our amazing staff challenging and motivating each student to achieve excellence, and the parental support provided to our students/school. Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,
Robert Fisher

California Dashboard Results

The California Dashboard was recently updated and we have outstanding news to share with you! The dashboard shows assessment results and other aspects of school performance under the California Accountability System. West Ranch is being recognized for having the highest performance (VERY HIGH=BLUE) in the following categories: English Language Arts, Math, Science, College/Career, and Graduation Rates. In the category of Suspension rates we received the HIGH=GREEN performance. Our staff is continuing to look at the data to look for areas of improvement. We encourage families to explore the dashboard data as well by clicking here.

Congratulations to Elina Ghosh 2026 YoungArts Award Winner

Elina Ghosh (11th grade) was selected as a 2026 YoungArts Award Winner with Distinction in Popular Voice! She is one of only four students in the country chosen in this category, and we're so happy for her to have this opportunity.
The YoungArts Award is the only national award that recognizes exceptional young artists across disciplines. Out of nearly 13,000 applicants, Elina was selected through a rigorous review process by panels of top artists. As a Winner with Distinction, she’ll also be attending National YoungArts Week in Miami during January. Winners with Distinction are also eligible to be nominated for the U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts. Congratulations Elina!

Holiday Wish list
  • Before winter break, we will have a breakfast for all staff to celebrate our great team at West Ranch. We would like to give all staff some prizes and gift cards that day. If you can, please consider donating a gift card to your favorite store, restaurant, or coffee shop. For example, a $10 gift card to Starbucks would be great. A $20 gift card to Amazon would be fantastic. A $40 gift card to Wood Ranch would be amazing! Have your student drop off your gift card in the Welcome Center. You can give it to any of our front office team members. You can also write a short note of thanks if you want to. These gift cards will be given out randomly during the holiday breakfast. Our goal is to give out 80 gift cards to our staff on December 19! Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
